Income Eligibility Application

Fill out this application to verify your Income Eligibility to qualify for NYSERDA’s Affordable Solar Incentive, Residential Inclusive Solar Incentive or to participate in a community solar project that provides higher bill discounts to income-eligible subscribers. To qualify, you must be income eligible based on your total household income. For the Affordable Solar Incentive, you must also prove homeownership and occupancy.

To apply:
  • Read the application in full, and review the supporting documentation required for submission, including evidence of total household income. Be sure to have all the required supporting documents gathered before starting the form.
  • All required fields are marked with a red asterisk.
  • Upon submitting the application and required supporting documents, you will receive a confirmation email. Refer to your application number in your confirmation email to check on the status of your request.

    • STOP: The Affordable Solar Residential Incentive is not available in Consolidated Edison, National Grid, NYSEG, RG&E, Central Hudson Gas & Electric, or Orange and Rockland. It is currently only available in PSEG Long Island.
    If you are applying to the EmPower+ Program DO NOT apply using this application. Instead, please apply directly to the programs via the     Combined Residential Application.

    Required Document #1 — Utility Bill - in the name of the applicant or household member listed on the Household Eligibility Worksheet
    Upload a recent electric, gas, telephone or internet utility bill dated within the last 3 months

    Required Document #2 — Income Documentation
    You can demonstrate eligibility through one of two options.

    Option 1: Participate in a Government or Utility Assistance Program
    Upload an award letter and the Household Eligibility Worksheet


    Option 2: Household Eligibility Worksheet and Supporting Documentation
    Use Option 2 only if you cannot provide any of the documents requested in Option 1.

    Document #3 — Proof of Ownership and Primary Occupancy (Not required if you are applying for Community Solar (ICSA))
    * A solar project serving a building owned by an LLC, corporation, or other business entity, is not eligible for the Affordable Solar Residential Incentive.

    By checking this box and clicking Submit below: I certify that all information provided on this application, including statements and documents submitted in connection with this application, are correct, complete, and accurately document the income of all members of my household, to the best of my knowledge. I acknowledge that NYSERDA has retained a Contractor to process my income qualification application. If necessary, I further agree to provide additional information to complete my income screening application process.

    I further acknowledge and agree that NYSERDA and its Contractor may share with and disclose to, orally and/or in writing the project partners identified by me above, or as subsequently identified by me to the Contractor, the following information regarding this application; whether the application has been approved by the Contractor, and any additional items requested by the Contractor in order to complete my income qualification application; whether the application has been approved by the Contractor; and whether my application has been denied, so that the project partner(s) can determine whether I intend to proceed.

    I give permission for NYSERDA, or its designee, to verify records necessary to assure my program eligibility. I understand that if I give false information or withhold information in order to make myself eligible for benefits that I am not entitled to, I can be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

    I understand this application does not guarantee assistance will be granted but will be used in determining eligibility for the program. Whether or not an eligible applicant will be provided assistance will depend in part upon the number of applicants received, the remaining funding available, and the priorities to be met by the program.

    I agree, and it is my intent, to sign this document by checking the above box and submitting this document to NYSERDA. I understand that this is the legal equivalent of having placed my handwritten signature on the submitted document and this affirmation.

    If you do not wish to sign this document electronically you may request a paper copy to sign by hand. If you elect to submit a paper copy of this document NYSERDA or its contractors shall have the right to convert and store the document electronically and to the use of electronically stored version in the same manner as an original signed copy.
