New Efficient Homes New York: Enhanced Design Support (PON 6236)

Description

Provides funding for enhanced early-stage design support for residential new construction, including technical assistance, training, energy modeling, and other design activities. Supports home builders, developers and others in the design and delivery of high-performance, energy-efficient residential projects across New York State. Funding is available to Single family and Small home builders and developers, and to Multifamily design teams. Select funding is available under the LMI Energy Efficiency and Building Electrification (EE/BE) Order from 2026-2030 strictly for Multifamily affordable housing with 5+ units. Projects must be new construction within New York State.

Eligible activities include integrated architectural and system design, technical analysis and modeling, resilience strategies, cost and implementation analysis, professional training, knowledge transfer, and market transformation activities. Projects must incorporate all-electric, high-performance space heating and cooling without fossil fuel backup (standby / emergency generators excepted) and meet the Program’s applicable performance and design requirements.

Funding is allocated by market sector: Single Family and Small Homes projects may receive up to $5,000 per dwelling unit; Low and Mid-scale Multifamily under 50,000 square feet can receive up to $1.50 per square foot; and Large-scale Multifamily over 50,000 square feet can receive up to $1.30 per square foot with a $250,000 Project Cap. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis through December 15, 2029, by 3 PM ET or until the allocated budget has been fully committed, whichever occurs first.
