Alternative Fuel Production in New York (RFI 6169)

Due Date:  Continuous

Description

NYSERDA’s Advanced Fuels Innovation team is focused on advancing the commercialization of drop-in alternative fuels in New York State, including sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), renewable diesel, renewable natural gas (RNG), and clean methanol, produced from waste-derived and biogenic feedstocks and captured CO₂. NYSERDA is seeking information from entities either already pursuing, or interested in pursuing, alternative fuels projects in New York State.

This Request for Information (RFI 6169) will inform the development of a competitive solicitation that builds on PON6031 (launched August 2025) to advance alternative fuel production opportunities utilizing New York State-based feedstocks. The anticipated PON will support projects across pilot, demonstration, and development funding for first-of-a-kind commercial alternative fuel facilities in New York State.

The RFI seeks input across three focus areas:
  1. Market pipeline — project intent, commercialization stage, scale, timeline and cost;
  2. Project readiness and barriers— site, feedstock, offtake, and infrastructure readiness, cost share feasibility, and barriers facing organizations advancing toward first-of-a-kind commercial deployment.
  3. Feedback about the previous PON6031 — additional input related to the previously released PON6031.
Potential respondents include technology developers, project developers, investors, financing entities, feedstock suppliers, offtake partners, and other supply chain stakeholders active in the alternative fuels space. See NYSERDA’s website for details associated with RFI 6169, including the submission deadline.
