Energy Social Science Research Projects (PON 5857)

Due Date:  02/19/2025  (Round 1)

Description

The Energy Social Science Research Projects (E-SSRP) will support social science research that investigates the social and cultural contexts of energy systems and energy transition. Projects funded by this solicitation will contribute to the interdisciplinary field of energy social science, build meaningful engagement with disadvantaged communities, and produce policy-relevant knowledge that can support NYSERDA’s efforts to advance an inclusive clean energy transition.
NYSERDA seeks contractors who can perform original research in five research areas, plus an additional area for exploratory scoping projects. Proposals will be accepted in the following six categories:

A.  Worker experiences in clean energy training and jobs
B.  Energy insecurity and energy-limiting behaviors
C.  Integrating socio-spatial factors into energy analysis
D.  Participatory research on energy transition in everyday life
E.  Community-led education to support climate justice
F.  Scoping support for new energy social science research areas

A total of $1,600,000 is available for projects. The primary audience for this PON includes researchers at academic or research organizations actively performing social science research. Although this PON is open to institutions located outside of NYS, empirical research must be conducted in NYS.

Partnerships between educational, research, government, and community organizations are encouraged.
