The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) introduced the Home Electrification and Appliance Rebates (HEAR) program using funding from the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). The IRA established population-based formula grant funding to be provided to State Energy Offices to develop and implement programs under administrative rules established by the DOE. NYSERDA received approval from the DOE to administer the Appliance Upgrade Program (Program) under HEAR; the Program offers rebates to households below 150% AMI (State's Area Median Income) for the purchase and installation of ENERGY STAR® certified heat pump clothes dryers (including all-in-one washer-dryers with heat pump dryers), and electrical wiring and panel upgrades, if necessary for the appliance installation. Future revisions of this solicitation may expand Program measures to include appliances such as ENERGY STAR® induction cooktops/stoves/ranges and Most Efficient refrigerators.

Applicants may apply to receive rebates through the MyEnergy Portal (using the “Apply Now” button below), through a Participating Contractor or Regional Clean Energy Hub representative, or via a paper application, linked here: https://www.nyserda.ny.gov/All-Programs/Appliance-Upgrade-Program.

Through this PON, NYSERDA seeks to continue the development of a Participating Retailer and Contractor network. Participating Retailers provide rebates at the point-of-sale (through the Appliance Coupon), and Participating Contractors provide rebates for the appliance installation, electrical wiring upgrade and panel upgrade installations. Participating Contractors are eligible to receive incentives for each Program measure.
