Climate Justice Fellowship Plus (PON 5566)

Due Date:  Continuous

Description

NYSERDA is seeking applications from non-profit organizations in the New York City boroughs of the Bronx and Queens that wish to host a full-time Climate Justice Fellow for two (2) years. NYSERDA’s Climate Justice Fellowship Plus Program is 100 percent funded by the U.S. Department of Labor through an award totaling $3,000,000. The Climate Justice Fellowship Plus Program will provide wage subsidies for eligible nonprofit organizations to hire individuals for two-year climate justice fellowships. It is expected that fellows will assist with community engagement activities (e.g., plan, policy, or project), support clean energy project development and implementation, facilitate, or build upon partnerships, or engage in other projects related to advancing climate justice and clean energy priorities in the Bronx and Queens.

The Climate Justice Fellowship Plus Program has mandatory salary expectations for participating nonprofit employers. Nonprofit employers are required to offer fellows a minimum of $58,500 as a salary in the first year of the fellowship and $60,255 as a salary in the second year of the fellowship, incorporating a mandatory minimum 3% cost of living adjustment. NYSERDA will fund 67% of the fellow’s salary totaling $79,170.

Additionally, NYSERDA will fund $8,000 in approved professional development and/or supportive services per Fellow that will be distributed by BronxWorks, a multi-service organization and settlement house based in the Bronx. Fellows will also have access to cohort services, which are focused on professional development activities.  Fellows must be members of a defined priority population and residents of New York’s 14th Congressional District. Host organizations can be entering and/or currently working to advance climate justice and clean energy priorities for communities across the Bronx and/or Queens.
